Lauren Levorson-Wong, [She/Her, They/Them]

Hello there!

My name is Lauren, and I'm a third year Music Education Major (MusEd 2T4 for you engineers). I have spent the duration of my first two years (part time) conducting Skule™ Choir, and I have learned so much in my role here! I had the privilege of going to NYC with the choir, and performing in a lot of different community engagements!  Above all I learned the value of communication and teamwork with the other execs, and I know you will fall in love with this ensemble and the people in it as much as I have! If you have any questions, you can reach me through the choir email choir@g.skule.ca!

About the Conductor Position

Q: What are the roles and responsibilities of the Conductor?

These are the tasks you can expect to be responsible for as the Conductor:

  • Plan and run weekly rehearsals

  • Conduct the choir during rehearsals and performances

  • Choose repertoire for the choir and present it at the executive meetings

*from "Constitution of Skule™ Choir"

Additionally, the conductor historically has:

  • Created program/Emcee notes for biannual concerts

  • Aided in the collection for and assembly of gift baskets for concerts

  • Assisted manager in tasks not covered by a vacant role.

Q: What is a favourite memory of being on the exec/being the Conductor?

A: Going to New York was a HUGE highlight, but honestly sometimes choristers write a thank you note to me and it makes my year... I've saved them all in a little memory box!
